Dentistry students in Sheffield have been boosted by a multi-million pound expansion and refurbishment of the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital .
The new-look hospital re-opened on Friday, September 11 following the completion of an ambitious redevelopment project, which was carried out as a joint collaboration between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The large investment in cutting edge facilities and equipment means the dental hospital will now be able to train 75 students each year, a significant increase from the previous capacity of 45 students .
Commenting on the makeover, Professor Ian Brook, clinical director at the hospital, said: "The Charles Clifford Hospital is a world-class Dental Hospital providing specialist care to patients and clinical placements for dentists in training."
"As well as being able to support more dental students the new state of the art facilities will ensure our patients continue to receive excellent care in modern, welcoming surroundings."
Jayne Oldfield, Charles Clifford Dental Hospital Manager for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, added: "Staff and students at the dental hospital are delighted with the new clinical facilities."
