Computer Software Used To Help Children Brush Teeth More Effectively

Mon, 14 Apr 2008

Scientists in Taiwan have developed a new way to encourage kids to brush their teeth properly.

Developed by scientists at Taiwan University, the ‘Playful Toothbrush' game is aimed at changing worrying research which suggests that the average five year old covers only a quarter of their teeth when brushing.

The game features software similar to a Nintendo Wii, with a web camera, mounted onto a bathroom mirror, used to track the movements of a toothbrush that includes three LEDs.

This information is then fed into the computer, which displays the game that the scientists have developed.

Users are then shown a set of graphic colourful teeth which become white as and when the child moves the toothbrush over the teeth .
